When people discover the extent of my chocolate infatuation and connect that with my love for writing/reading, they are bound to eventually suggest, āWrite about chocolate!ā My immediate reaction is always, āHow?ā My creative ability doesnāt extend to thinking up an entertaining manuscript entirely about a single consumable product. I just really enjoy eating it. Thatās about it. Canāt write a manuscript based on that, can I?
Enter Sandra Boynton.
Ah, here you are. You didnāt have the same problem, did you Ms. Boynton? You somehow managed to write a delightfully funny, entirely charming, suspiciously educational, genuinely entertaining book all about the consuming passion for chocolate. Itās rather annoying, really.Ā
And impressive. Iām impressed.Ā
Did I mention how amusing the book is? I mean, who knew that statistics could be quite so diverting? Numbers donāt necessarily remain in my memory, but this one is simply so relevant: āfourteen out of any ten individuals like chocolate.ā I know from experience that the sources are impeccable.Ā vb
Oh, and when speaking about white chocolate, I am entirely on the same page with you. Page 25, to be exact [pictured below]. Our āconfidently blandā white chocolate lovers may feel slightly attacked, but it would be a lie to say I didnāt laugh out loud or the page didnāt speak to me on a very personal level. I hope you donāt think it presumptuous of me, but I have to ask, Are you Shakespeare? Because your subtle barbs are liable to prick someone. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
Boynton exits. (running)

Okay, so Sandra Boynton successfully accomplished my destiny far before I was able to. But perhaps I can still document my travels around the world eating different chocolates. And when I do, Iāll be sure to bring along Boyntonās book for the handy-dandy International Chocolate Phrasebook in the back. Seriously, thereās no phrase more important to know in another language besides, āExcuse me, where is the nearest chocolate?ā Itāll be especially important when I visit the Roman Empire. *insert wink here*
