TBR: Books I Want to Read in 2022

Another year, another list of books that I may or may not get to. Like usual, this TBR list is tentative, and probably superfluous, since I have so many books not listed here that are already on my bookshelf and that I need to read. Besides, my TBR list is ā€œmore what youā€™d call guidelines than actual rules.ā€ (If you get that reference, way to go, Cap). If I decide to read books that are nowhere near my TBR, fine and expected.Ā

Below, I have a list of carry-over books that I didnā€™t get to last year, because I read other books on impulse. All but the top two books, I would have to buy, and I need to stop buying books. At least until Iā€™ve read the ones I already have. So those are probably long-term TBR.

The new additions are books I currently have and are at the top of my TBR. And of course they are all classics except for one. I have some contemporary books I was gifted from a friend who was un-hauling her books, so Iā€™ll probably read those this year. And those books from my Halloween haul that I still havenā€™t read. Iā€™ve included pictures of those books if youā€™re curious. Iā€™ve had bad luck with nearly all of the contemporary books Iā€™ve read in 2021, so I can’t say Iā€™m particularly excited, but fingers crossed for 2022.Ā

Carry-overs from last yearā€™s TBR:

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

Chocolat by Joanne Harris

Rebecca by Daphne du MaurierĀ

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

Normal People and Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney

The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett

New additions:Ā

For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway

Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell and Scarlett: The Sequel by Alexandra Ripley

David Copperfield by Charles Dickens

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

I wanna try some John Grisham, since heā€™s always on NYTā€™s Bestsellers List, and Iā€™ve been gifted a lot of his books recently for some reason.

*The white one you probably can’t see is The Forgotten Room by Karen White, Beatrix Williams, and Lauren Willig.

Happy reading, friends and comrades!
