10 Gift Ideas for your Book-loving Friend

Canā€™t decide what to get your book-loving friend for Christmas? Need last-minute ideas? I got you. Iā€™ve compiled a list of 10 gifts that your bookish loved one will enjoy.Ā

1. Your favorite book that you know your friend hasnā€™t read.

Gifting your favorite book to a friend is a beautiful thing; you are sharing something meaningful to you and giving them a taste of yourself. And then you can discuss the book afterwards among friends. Whenever your friend sees the book on their bookshelf, they will be reminded of you.Ā

2. Book from their TBR list.

Of course, if they have read all of your favorite books, you can simply gift them a book you know they want to read.

3. A book weight.

If your friend is anything like me, they love to read while they are eating. And theyā€™ll know that reading and eating can be a bit of a hassle. Your hands are occupied, and perhaps dirty, but you have to keep your book opened to the right page. A book weight would fix all of their problems. There are some basic ones on Amazon, or you could opt for more cutesy ones on Etsy.

4. Bookshelf Accessories.

If your friend stores their books on a bookshelf, they might want to spice them up a bit with decor to make them look aesthetic. You can give them a plant, a candle, a little statue, a classical bust, or anything vintage-looking if thatā€™s their style.Ā

5. Beautiful book editions.

Sometimes people buy books that may not have the prettiest cover, but are cheap. If that book becomes one of their favorites, they might want another edition that is more aesthetically pleasing. Or perhaps a publisher just came out with another edition that your friend has their eye on. On sites like Juniper Books, you can get book jackets without the books, like the Hedwig jackets below. These will probably be on the more expensive side.

6. Painted book edition.

This is similar to #5. Artists like Maisie (insta: maisie_matilda_art) paint the fore-edges of books and sell them on etsy. I believe Maisieā€™s shop is currently empty, but you can find other artists that do the same thing. Or if youā€™re really fancy, you can paint the book yourself!

7. Cute bookmarks

You can never go wrong with a bookmark. These bookmarks with flowers preserved in resin are adorable. Again, you can always make it yourself.Ā

8. Book-inspired products i.e. mugs, t-shirts, etc.

The Literary Gift Company is a great place to look for literature-inspired products. On the mug and T-shirt below, you can choose which books you want displayed with a variety of color options.

9. Bookish candles.

Every book lover loves the smell of books, so a book-smelling candle would be the perfect gift. There are bunches on Etsy. Or buy a candle that is inspired by their favorite author or character, like this Hemingway candle or this Darcy candle.

10. Bookish jewelry.

I included this idea mainly because I saw these earrings and found them adorable. I might get my ears pierced just so I could wear these earrings. But, in all seriousness, one of these pieces could become a staple in your friend’s jewelry rotation.
